BPCC Colorman 35 Installation

In the mid 1980’s the Maxwell Corporation purchased twenty- one MAN Colorman 35 Presses for installation at their works in Watford, Stamford Street SE1 and Oldham. Vanguard were awarded the contract for the transportation of the Presses from MAN premises in Augsburg, West Germany to the three destinations and their subsequent offload, mechanical and electrical installation the latter being undertaken by our Vanguard Electrical Services.

The photograph shows our gantry lifting one of the MAN Colorman Units at 32 tons onto the press line at Watford, in all,total 6250 tons of Press transported form manufacturer offloaded and mechanically/electrically installed without a scratch, and in record time!

Apart from the Presses, the contract also included the offloading, positioning and assembly Ferag, Muller Martini, Devario and Von Roll copy and newsprint handling and conveyor systems together with the Datastep, Horsell Graphics and Krauss plate- making machinery, Hell Pershke Graphics fax equipment and BT Rolatruc reel handling plant.

We even managed to obtain settlement of the last tranche £1.2m, from Robert Maxwell, and that one was paid on time!
